Answer: In Simple mode you only have two choices: the movie alone, or the entire disc. In Advanced you have more control over which Titlesets are backed up onto the disc, as well as having control over the compression for each Titleset. In Advanced you also have the choice of splitting the movie onto 2 discs with no compression to preserve quality. |

Answer: DVD X Copy Platinum is trying to write information to an invalid location. You need to change the location of your Temp Path. Create a folder on a hard drive with at least 10Gb free space. Go to Options in Platinum and make sure your Temp Path points to this new folder. |

Answer: If there are no drives displayed in your Drive Select list, make sure that your DVD burner is connected into your computer. If your DVD burner is already connected then re-install the software. If you only have one drive in your computer and it is your DVD burner, sometimes Drive Select runs in the background, meaning when you launch it, nothing happens. This is because Drive Select automatically sets your only DVD drive as the default burner. |

Answer:
Some movies have incompatible Titlesets or DVD authoring problems that result in problems backing them up. Below are some things you can try: 1. TDF: A TDF file will not fix a failed backup. TDF files do not correct driver problems or bugs that may exist in the application. However, if you successfully create a backup but the backup has the incorrect titleset, audio language, video format, or subtitle on it, it is likely that a TDF file will fix the problem. 2. Uncheck the entire disk option when using Simple mode. 3. When using Platinum only select the largest title set to burn. 4. Change the location to another folder, for example "C:\TempMovie". The root of the drive, for example "C:\" or "D:\", may not work properly, and the temp must point to a folder. Please make sure that the new drive is over 9.4Gb in size. |

Answer: Your VSO device may not be installed correctly or your DVD+-RW may not be functioning properly. Please contact your computer manufacturer. |

Answer: Make sure you are using the right format disc with your burner. Some burners will support only a +R or a -R disc. Put a blank disc in your DVD burner (DVD X Copy program does not have to be running at the time). Under My Computer, right-click on the DVD burner and choose Properties. In the Properties window, click on the Recording tab at the top. Under Recording, there should be an option “Enable CD Recording on Drive” – please make sure that is check marked. If not, do so, click Apply, then click OK. If you have two burners in your computer (ex. a DVD burner and a CD burner), run the Drive Select program. Choose your DVD burner from the list (if there are no burners in the box, use the drop-down menu arrow). Make sure that your DVD burner is set as the Master on the Secondary IDE channel. |

Answer: Next to the name of each titleset there will be a check box. Make sure that the check box is selected next to the name of each titleset. Once you have selected a titleset the next button will light up. |

Answer: * If the DVD you're attempting to backup was purchased in another country, it will likely have a different region. With Windows, you can normally change your region up to 4 times. If you travel a lot with your laptop and need to always be changing regions, you can use avoid this by downloading freeware such as a DVD region killer program. |
Answer: When this happens it is because DVDXCopy Platinum is not recognizing the burner on your computer. To run drive select do the following. Go to the Start Menu > Go to Programs > Go to DVD X Copy Platinum > Click on the Drive Select option Select your DVD burner from the list. If no window appears, this is normal. It simply means that you only have one available burner and the program will select it automatically. |

Answer: This program will tell the system which drive is the DVD burning drive. If you have different DVD burning devices, this is where you can go and tell the system to use a specific one. It is located in the Programs menu under the DVD X Copy Platinum folder. |

Answer: Check your media format. Make sure you are using the correct blank media for your burner(DVD + or – R/RW). You may also need to run the Drive Select utility included with Platinum. If you only have one DVD Burner the program will seemingly do nothing and automatically select your only DVD burner. After running Drive Select re-run DVD X Copy and see if the problem still exists. |

The following programs may cause problems while DVD X Copy Platinum. If don't have any of the programs listed below installed in your computer, you should be fine. If you do, please read the instructions below on how to prevent interference with DVD X Copy.
1. B's Clip: This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, then reboot to remove it. 2. Direct CD or Drag to Disk: These are applications from Easy CD Creator from Roxio. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. To remove them you need to go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. There you can select Easy CD Creator to Change - not Remove. Then you click next until it gives you the option to Modify. Then either Direct CD or Drag to Disk should be selected and changed to "make this option not available". Then click Next. While the program may look like it is installing, it is actually removing those options. 3. GoBack: This is backup software that constantly runs in the background (Terminate and Stay Ready) which not only needs to be turned off, but disabled. Unfortunately, this may cause some restore points to vanish, but it will free up a lot of hard drive space. 4. DLA: Also HP-DLA, Veritas DLA, and others. DLA stands for Drive Letter Access. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, then reboot to remove it. 5. InCD: This is packet writing software that comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning Rom. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start Windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it. 6. Interactual Player and PC Friendly Player: These programs are DVD software viewers that often come on DVD movie discs, and will try to install themselves every time you watch a movie on your computer. Please make sure to NOT let these install. Both programs interfere with all 321 Studios software and should be un-installed from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel when found. In some cases, you will need to uninstall and reinstall DVD X Copy Platinum to restore functionality after removing one of these. 7. McAfee Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar. DVDXCopy Platinum then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using DVD X Copy Platinum, McAfee needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. 8. Norton Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar and the automatic updates should be disabled. DVDXCopy Platinum then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using DVD X Copy Platinum, Norton needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. 9. StopZilla: StopZilla can hinder required portions of our installer, causing the software to fail. Please completely disable StopZilla, then install DVDXCopy Platinum. Once DVD X Copy is installed, you may safely enable it again. If you have any difficulty using DVD X Copy Platinum at a later time, you may need to disable StopZilla before going to use DVD X Copy Platinum. Uninstallation is not required. 10. MyStorageGuard: This backup software can hinder certain required files from being copied during the installation. Please disable this program before installing DVD X Copy Platinum, and have it disabled any time you go to use DVD X Copy Platinum. Uninstallation is not required. 11. Napster 2.0: This software includes some basic burning software that can cause burning problems if it is running. You will need to close this program completely before trying to use DVD X Copy Platinum. In some rare cases, you will need to completely uninstall this package to attain full reliability, so if disabling does not solve your issue, please try uninstalling this software, and try again. 12. Easy CD Creator 4.x: Due to the age of this package, it is no longer updated by the authors. There are bugs present in this older system that will cause NUMEROUS problems on your machine, not just with DVD X Copy Platinum. Please Uninstall completely, and consider either the new 6.x version from Roxio or Nero 6.x. These packages, installed without the Packet Writing software (DirectCD/Drag to Disk/InCD), all work very well together with DVD X Copy Platinum. 13. NTI FileCD: This program has packet writing software installed with it. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, then reboot twice to fully remove it. Spyware and Adware - some programs can install other software that can be damaging to your Operating System. Please scan for these programs with a Spyware utility. We recommend Ad-aware, available freely at www.lavasoftusa.com. If you perform any of these changes, you may need to uninstall DVD X Copy Platinum, then re-install to fix any damage left. If you find some of these packages, please shut down and reboot twice to ensure that the last pieces of the conflicting software are completely removed. |

Answer: DVD X Copy Platinum may yield to other processes that are trying to access the DVD writer. When in the burn process with DVD X Copy Platinum you want to eliminate any interference, hence the removal or disabling of conflicting software. With the conflicting programs usually only a particular component needs to be removed, the program itself need not be removed completely. With programs that do need to be removed entirely an alternative program, that does not conflict, can replace it. |

Answer: If you are getting a backup that plays back fine on your computer, but not on your DVD player, this can be caused by several things. --- Your DVD player does not support playing the format of blank DVD you are using. Some DVD players only support playback of DVD +R/RW or -R/RW, or sometimes neither. You may also try a different brand of blank DVD. |

Answer: If you receive this message, try rebooting your computer. Also, this error can occur when the Region setting for your burner is incorrect. Refer to question #8 to look at the steps you'll need to take to change your Region setting. |
